Apollo Intensa Emozione, A Proper Name For a Chinese Car
Intensa Emozine, that translates to fierce emotion. By the look at Apollo's latest creation you can see why the car was named like that. Although the owner of Apollo is chinese , he was convinced somhow that an Italian name would fit his baby more than a chinese one that has raging or dragon in it .
This prove apollo is in good hands now , we all remember the fastest car on Top Gear's test track , the Gumpert. You might recall its hedious looks as well ,but the Intensa Emozione is surely a great creation to look at .
In 2001 , Ronald Gumpert returned to Germany after being in China for 3 years working as the head of marketing operations of Audi and VW . He had a dream of creating a car that is road legal and can be ready to take up corners of Monza at any speed . Automobile designer , Roland Mayer had the same idea and they joined forces to create something that would redefine the terms of speed and aerodynamics. They both provided the first prototype of the Gumpert Apollo and sent it to have a try on Top Gear's test track. the Gumpert was produced from 2005 to 2012 and then they decided to reevaluate the situation of their design , do a Chinese billionaire step in and took over the german company .
If you clapped an eye on the concept Apollo Arrow back when it was revealed at Geneva motorshow you would instantly recognize the overedge design that the Intensa Emozione features. the doors , the front and back end are similar to the concept except for some sharp bits that would cut you if you stare at them for a long time .
The car lives up to its name , it gives an explosive will to take it for a wild drive in a wet day on Spa.
You might notice the colossal wing at the back and big diffuser , along with other bits at the side and up front the car can produce a 1300 kg of downforce that would glue it to the ground when going supersonic . The exhaust , as described by the chairman of the company himslef" costs more than a BMW M4 and that is because it was totally 3D printed from the ground up . This statement can only make you wonder " if the exhaust costs more than an M4 , how much does the Intensa Emozione costs ?
Well there are 10 of this model , each costs more than you can afford , unless you are Bill gates , to be specific the car costs 2.3 million Euros . Even Bill won't consider buy one because his heart won't handle it roring engine .
What we liked the most about the Intensa Emozione , well apart from the name , is that it consider the same intriguing see through techniques from Pagani . You can easily spot the masterpiece and the genuis behind the Apollo . A naturally aspirated V12 that gets no electric help from any other motor . The results are impressive because the car develops 789 hp and can reach the 60 mph mark in 2.7 seconds . The Apollo has a six speed Helwand pneumatic racing gearbox and that's the only gearbox that could tame the beast behind the driver's cockpit .
The car has pushrod suspension and shares the same supplier of carbon panels at the top with Pagani
has a cloacked tubular chasis and carbon crash box up front and rear . all that carbon fiber makes the car sublimely light with 1250 kg only for the 789 hp.
The cockpit is red .
