Lexus LC 500, what Lexus really is
Lexus finest engineers are called "Takumi" meaning artisans in Japanese , they have worked on the bespoken LFA and it did represent a game changer in the world of supercars . It appears that the same artisans have contributed in the making of this goddess .
It is called the LC 500 , the first initials stands for Luxury Coupe but Lexus makers insisted on the abbrevation of "Lexus Challenge" because the car represents the brand's take on against other esteemed car brands like Mercedes and BMW.
The problem with Lexus however , is the same as an unstable ,maybe bipolar person. In The past years the brand introduced different hideous , yet highly luxurious cars like the 430 and the GS 450 and that makes hard to believe that is the same company that delivered the LFA .
Couple of years ago they gave us the RCF , a car that can only resemble to Mick Jagger and now they managed somehow to introduce the closest car version of Charlize Theron . The car looks hypnotic the more you focus on details the quicker you loose sense of time and place . The backend is equally elegant as the frontend .
The tail lights look as if they were designed with a Kitana sword , the sharp edges are breathtaking and it seem impeccable , the car has the LFA's DNA all over its corners which is good because if you want to own an LFA you have to pay nearly 400k dollars , instead the LC500 gives you approximately the same looks with just over 90k dollars .
The LC500 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0 Liter DOHC V8 engine that produces 471 hp at 7500 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque that pushes the car from a motionless position to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds . The car drives with a 10 speed automatic gearbox with manual shiftability through magnesium paddles .
The car is loaded with technology that compels you to question your knowledge about cars .
But , there are some obvious and known features like rear wheels steering, limited slip diff and inetegrated braking system (IBS) which is now commonly used in many other brands .
As expected , Lexus did a proper job when it comes to the interior. The same gage cluster from the LFA with a Luxurious centre console with 10.3 inches touch screen . The problem is that you need a Phd to operate the functions on the screen making changing the radio station for instance harder than giving birth to a baby . Other than that the combination of leather and alcantara gives the car its usual extravagance .
The car looks and sounds great , and that worries me because when Lexus gives a good car the next one is often expected to be a bit dull .
