Mclaren 720 S , A glimpse of the past .



This is the new McLaren 720 S , the first impression that I had when I saw the car for the first time when it was unveiled in Geneva last March , was frankly , a Déja Vu. McLaren's boss might stressed the fact that the car is specifically 91% different from the previous  models which it is true in terms of handling , top speed and performance in general but in terms of design , well a part from the highly alluring headlamps styling and some specific lines on the body that are of course meant to improve downforce , it still somehow looks familiar in many angles .

The 720 S conception process started even before the launch of the 570 GT , it was initiated exactly 3 years before its offical appearence in March 2017 and it was meant to combine the refinements of the previous models the 570 GT and the performance of the 650 S but the most important thing to feature McLaren's hall of famer , the Mclaren F1 . You might be surprised by this or even question my sanity but I am fully convinced that Mclaren tried through the 720 S to remind everyone about their enriched legacy when they produced the most expensive car ever made .




See , I told you . Of course with the newly developped mindset of Mclaren about production supercars did contribute in the reforming process of its significant 4.0 liter ,Twin Turbocharged V8 heart . The result is 710 bhps which  means a whole pack of 100 horsepowers more than its grandfather , the engine will produce a respected 568 Lb ft of torque that will be fed directly to the rear massive rubbers, McLaren is still a startegic partner for Pirelli so they must have worked a lot to provide this kind of tyres that will endure your attempts at the corners . Since it is the same company that made the P1 or the "widow maker" as described by Jeremy Clarkson, it is as you might expect , filled with technology and all the computer witch craft you could ask for to help you reach the 60 mph mark in 2.9 second ( same as an Aventador  ) and a maximum speed of 212 mph , with breaking a sweat .


The car is 60 kgs lighter than the first car in Super Series the 650s and that is due to the excessive use of carbon fiber in the main cell of the car which by the way features one of the best interiors available in the market . The gage cluster can be automatically folded so the driver can focus more on the road , the steering wheel  as it should to be with zero drama and the switchs are strategically placed so they won't make a mess .


What McLaren presented for car enthusiats can only offer reassurance that the notion of supercars is still being treated as a high priority for certain car manufacturers but at  the same time it raises the competition for a whole new level , because if I had the chance to choose between the  Ferrari 488 GTB the Prosche  GT3 RS , the Lambo Huracan or the 720 S , I would definitly go with McLaren without second thoughts or regret .
