Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio , Pure Italian delicacy
Sport Utility Vehicles were often designed to serve the only purpose of providing comfort and safety for the wife and kids , and that particular reason , helped in raising global sales of this segment . The consumers were not highly concerned with looks and performance and that 's what companies like Volvo, Jeep and other SUV makers offered to them .
But in the recent years , the last decade to be specific , SUV makers became more concerned with design and performance since this segment is growing relentlessly , therefore we had AMGs from Mercedes , TURBOs from Prosche and Ms from BMW. Other automakers joined the race like Bnetly with the Bentayga , Maserati with the Levante and Jaguar with their F-Pace .
Finally , Alfa Romeo decided to provide what can only be described as a work of art . Alfa Romeo , like any Italian car brand , do care about the name of their cars , that is why they decided to call it the "Stelvio". To save you some time from googling the name , Alfa named their first SUV after the twisty Stelvio pass in northen Italy or as they call it in Italian "Gojo dello Stelvio" .
The design of this SUV is as breathtaking as the Stelvio pass , it has all the proper specification of Alfa Romeo 's sense and spirit , the front grill portrays the abvious signature of their legacy and the styling of the headlamps admittedly heartstopping !! .
Alfa applied the same amount of sporty elegance and delicay at the backend , the rear diffuser with the the giant exhausts can only remind you with the sporting pedigree that Alfa gained during the last decades . Since this is the Quadrifoglio version , you can easily spot Ugo Sivocci's clover leaf at the side panels as a sign of high aggressive performance . The Stelvio has the same carbon ceramic brakes as the Giulia and many other features .
But what will keep you from buying a Macan or an F-Pace ?
The Stelvio is the lightest with 1660 kilograms ,and the most powerful SUV you can ever buy , thanks to a 50/50 wheight distribution , an engine forged from aluminum , a carbon fiber crankshaft (saves up to 15 kg ) and 505 bhps all this for less than 50.000 dollars .
The Stelvio is available in three trims , the Stelvio , the Ti and the more powerful Quadrifoglio . You get also a range of diesel and petrol engines .
The first engine is a 2.0 Liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 280 horsepowers 296 lb-ft of torque that will take you from 0 to 60 in about 5 seconds .
the second engine is a 2.2 Liter turbocharged diesel with less bhp (207) and more torque (347)
The best you can get from the Stelvio is of course the big 3.0 Liter Twinturbo V6 that produces 505 bhp and will reach the 60 mph mark in 3.9 seconds , in an SUV !!
The Stelvio is equiped with the Q4 all wheel drive system with torque vectoring monitoring computers and the DNA driving modes of Alfa Romeo . The different trims share the same 8 speed automatic gearbox with manual shiftability through the gigantic paddles behind the wheel .
Although there were some allegations lurking about the interior not being properly built as its German rivals , but you can instantly relate to the insides of an Audi , the only thing that can remindyou of its Italian design is the "Engine Start" button mounted on the steering wheel , and yes it comes as a standard feature from the Stelvio ( thank you Ferrari) . It is quite a great place to be .
It seems that Alfa Romeo made a big statement through their Stelvio and it is indeed a great car , Alfa claims that is the fastest SUV ever tested on the Nuremburg ring and that's something that you can definetly brag about when you own the Stelvio .
