BMW M4 CS , The best of both worlds

If you are familiar with the movie " The Hangover" you can instantly relate the trio protagonists to the M4 models released by BMW , the standard rather dull M4 , the unique GTS and recently ,the guy that knows when to party hard and be rational at the same time , CS . 

I think that BMW M division is runned by a bunch of adrenaline and power junkies and here is why..
A while ago they released the sporty version of the regular 4 Series which was equipped with the highly regarded letter of the alphabet for BMW , the letter M .The standard 4 Series was crowned with an M power engine to insure more power and better performance for the brand's enthusiats .

But then , the people from M division thought that more power is not enough and wanted something far more bulcky and brutal so they designed an extreme version of the sporty version of a 4 Series and they called the GTS . Only 700 were made of the GTS  and they proudly delivered for the most devoted BMW M fans .

Now BMW are introducing a softer version of the GTS yet more powerful than the M4, I can't really fathom the philosophy that is being  implemented by BMW but the car is  here any way .


The car looks different from the M4 but it shares some of the same features as the M4 like the carbon fiber reinforced plastic  roof , the front end with its giant vents to feed the engine with the maximum amount of air. The car has as well some new specifications like the bonet with its vent for a better air flow , the carbon fiber reer duck tail for more down force and the new wheels with optional ceramic brakes . The GTS looks more aggressive than both models , in addition , it has a carbon fiber front diffuser and with a very low ground clearance , that expensive carbon fiber piece mounted at the lowest point of the car will be definetely your biggest concern .


The back end is no difference from the M4 except the new exhuasts and the CS badge next to the M4 the same carbon fiber diffuser and design of the tail lights and different lines on the bumper . The GTS however has the giant wing and a big diffuser to stabalize the car .


BMW offers different ranges of engine specs , the M4 has a 425 bhp turbocharged straight 6 engine with manual and 7 speed auto transmission . The GTS has more power than that with a 493 bhp with the same engine configuration as the M4 but with a new technology called " water injection " (scroll to the end for more ) , this new feature gives the car more torque at lower rpm , 443 lb-ft starting from 4000 rpm to be exact . 

The CS develops 460 bhp and 443 lb-ft more than the competiton package and the M4 , it has the MDCT transmission although there are some claims of failure lurking around BMW's transmission but they decided to fit the new model maybe with a more improved verison of their dual clutch gearbox .


The common combination between soft touch plastic and alcantara in the automotive industry aims to provide the extravagance that goes hand in hand with the brands heritage , The CS is not an exception when it comes to offering the maximum amount of comfort in the inside with a reminder of the M heritage at every available space with M badges and bleu / red trims everywhere. 

The car features as well a giant CS signature that I personnaly think is a bit corny from BMW .


The GTS maybe is a bit different because it dosen't have back seats to save weight , instead it has an integrated  roll cage and BMW bothered to finish it with a golden paint to remind you that your 140k dollars exclusive car will soon be on its carbon fiber roof soon enough .  


The " water injection" technology aims specifically to increase engine's performance without the need for more fuel consumption , the pump mounted at the back helps in cooling the air coming to the combustion chamber upgrading the air' density which increase the amount of oxygen in the chamber . This increases the pressure applied on the pistons which helps in developing more power and better performance ,in addition it serves as a shield to protect the turbos form high exhaust temperature .

BMW are delivering the best they can to their customers , the strategy is without a doubt product's differenciation which enables the consumer from having the best of both world , comfort and performance and that is exactly the case for the CS .
