2018 Audi RS5 , Enjoy It Responsibly

Throughout recent years , Audi became the brand that personifies the meaning of maturity , meaning if you own an Audi you can enjoy your life responsibly . To understand further more  what Audi means in the automotive world , you can picture it as your next door neighbor that tells you to keep it down if you are having a party so he can read his " Beyond good and evil " by Nietzsche in total serenity.

The new 2018 RS5 is not different from other Audis , my frist impression about this car was pragmatic agressivness meaning that the car knows when and how to be alive and herculian but it chooses to be more practical and  tamed to serve the gran touring needs that it was meant for .

What gives the moderate yet aggressive looks of the new RS5 is undoubtedly its big and refined front grill with the intakes . The grill is narrower and wider for better cooling and air consumption . The headlights are the reason why this car looks less combative more civilized and organized .  To make sure that all Audi models look as reasnable as this one , all models get these Audi headlights as standard . The QUATTRO written on the front splitter and the the side inlets of the front bumper reminds everyone ,and as you might read several times before if this not you first blog to read , with the IMSA GTO 90 . 

Distinctive things that characterizes the RS models are easily spotted even at the back . The oval shaped exhausts for instance with a split in the middle gives a preserved tone that can be controlled electronically by opening the valves when necessary . There are two wheel options you can get , 19 and 20 inches with carbon ceramic brakes as standard . Since it is a new Audi , a new suspension system was needed to be implemented for better performance and comfort , that is why the car sists on a new five link suspension system instead of the traditional trapezodial-link suspension along with the new gearbox and engine the car is 132 pounds lighter than the previous RS5 .

The car runs on the iconic Quattro system from Audi and that can be understood because its German rivals BMW and Mercedes have turned their attention to the functional 4 wheel-drive system and that can be seen in the E63 from the Merc and the new 5 series Beamer . Along with the newly developed suspesion system the car is surely a joy to drive . New implemented features are notable as well when it comes to the heart of the car . The new V6 turbocharged 2.9 Liter engine replaces the naturally aspirated 4.2 v8 that produced 450 hp at the past . The new DOHC aluminum block with its 24 valves has preserved the power of the v8 without wasting a single horse which is worrying because if you own a factory that produces V8 engines you might want to reevaluate the situation and change to a more sustainable industry like producing diapers .

The Quattro system transfers all the 443 lb-ft of torque and 450 hp through the the wheels with a new lighter and more  efficient ZF 8 speed automatic gearbox ( I'll will explain how it works and its benefits in a moment ) . Audi said that there will be a rear-wheel drive version of the 450 hp RS5 for those who want a wilder experience .

Audi is known for its great interiors , that reputation compelled some of the auto makers like Alfa Romeo and others to follow Audi's lead . Everything is where you are expecting it to be and its is indeed up to date with the latest evolving trends of customer's demands . For the 8-speed automatic transmission, ZF set out to design and develop an entirely new gear set concept. The result is a revolution in transmission design: a transmission concept with 4 gearsets which requires only 5 shift elements – of which only two are open in any given gear. The 8HP also requires no more than 3 multi-disk clutches and 2 brakes, which allows it to achieve a greater degree of efficiency than other concepts. As a result of the fact that only 2 shift elements are open per gear, drag losses in the transmission are sustainably reduced. This effect is supported by the use of a new parallel-axis vane-type oil pump. 4 A torque range from 300 to 1000 newton meter makes the 8HP the perfect partner for all rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive designs. From the lower midsize segment to sporty luxury cars, and in every type of SUV and offroad vehicle – its revolutionary design is always an efficient and economical solution. Although the 8HP features 2 more speeds than the extremely successful 6HP, the dimensions have remained unchanged and the weight was even reduced by 3% to 87 kg (transmission modular system 8HP70) including oil. At the same time, the total transmission ratio spread of 7.0 ensures that the engine is always in its optimum operating range.
